Six men from one company arrive on the same day, work the same shift and would rather share one corridor than sit in four buildings across the city. In plant construction that is the normal case, and it is the reason this page exists. In Mülheim an der Ruhr we let rooms in nine houses, and a posted team can take a flat as a unit when the rooms in it are free. Counted per head, that begins at €15 per person per night*.
* That star carries one condition, namely depending on length of stay and occupancy in the flat.
An apartment here means an ordinary residential flat. Rooms with doors that lock, a kitchen, a bathroom with a shower, a toilet, a washing machine. No canteen, no lounge, no service desk in the hallway.
What a team actually gets when it takes a flat
Each room locks and each room has a work table. The beds are separate singles, so two colleagues in one room sleep in their own bed. Where one more man joins a job at short notice, an extra bed can be put into a room.
The bathroom is private and has a shower. Bed linen comes with the room, cleaning products and hygiene products are in the flat, and the internet is a high-speed line rather than a signal borrowed from the corridor.
Some things are deliberately absent. There is no dishwasher, no air conditioning, no common room and no sauna. Nobody serves food in the building either.
The invoice stays per room, not per flat
Even when a team fills a flat, the calculation runs by room and night. A single room costs €23.54, a double room €34.24 and a three-bed room €41.73 in the standard houses. Two houses with larger rooms charge €26.75 or €37.45 for a single and €32.10 or €47.08 for a double.
The arithmetic is therefore easy to check before anyone signs. Three three-bed rooms for ten nights cost 3 × €41.73 × 10, which is €1,251.90. Four double rooms for five nights cost €684.80. One fitter staying a whole month in a single room pays €706.20 for 30 nights. Every amount carries German VAT and reflects September 2026. Cooking for six after a long shift
A crew that cooks together eats for a fraction of restaurant money, and the allowance stays in the pocket. The kitchen has a stove, an oven, a fridge, a microwave, a kettle, a coffee machine and pots, pans and utensils.
Shopping is done on foot in most locations. From the house on Eppinghofer Straße an EDEKA Paschmann and an Aldi are both 100 metres away, from Oberstraße a Lidl 300 metres and an Aldi 400 metres, from Saarn a Netto Marken-Discount 200 metres. Near Leineweberstraße and Wallstraße a Netto is 100 metres off, and from Scharpenberg an Aldi and a REWE Lenk are 900 metres away.
Where the flats stand and how far the work is
The houses sit in four parts of the city. In the centre on Löhberg, Wallstraße and Leineweberstraße, in Eppinghofen on Eppinghofer Straße and Oberstraße, further out on Scharpenberg in Menden-Holthausen and on Kölner Straße in Saarn.
For a team without private cars, the stops decide everything. Rathausmarkt is 200 metres from the centre houses, the Evangelisches Krankenhaus stop 200 metres from Leineweberstraße, Oststraße 300 metres from Oberstraße, Floraweg 300 metres from Scharpenberg, Kleefeld 200 metres from Saarn. Mülheim Hauptbahnhof lies between 300 and 600 metres from four of the houses.
By road the distances are short. The turbine works of Siemens Energy in Mülheim is seven minutes away, Oberhausen Hauptbahnhof 12 minutes, Essen Hauptbahnhof 11 minutes, Duisburg Hauptbahnhof 17 minutes. The container terminals at Logport Rheinhausen are 19.4 kilometres from here, a drive of 23 minutes. Bottrop takes 22 minutes, Krefeld 37.
A flat that stays booked while the names change
Long postings rarely keep the same faces from start to finish. A flat held for a quarter can be reoccupied as the rotation turns, and the rate per room stays where it was. The dispatcher keeps the occupancy plan, we keep the address and the access codes.
That is the difference between a block booking and a string of single reservations. One contact answers, one document covers the rooms, and nobody chases a key at the end of a shift.
How a team books in practice
Send the arrival date, the number of nights and the size of the crew. We answer with a written quote naming the rooms, the nights and the total. After confirmation the access code follows, and the flat can be entered at any hour, including on a Sunday night.
