The contract starts on Monday at seven, the van is loaded on Sunday evening, and the one thing still open is where six men will sleep for the next four months. Crews posted from Poland, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary end up in Mülheim an der Ruhr for that reason. The plants sit in Duisburg, Essen and Oberhausen, and this city lies between them. A place here starts at €15 per person per night*.

We let rooms in nine houses, in the city centre, in Eppinghofen, in Menden-Holthausen and in Saarn. They are ordinary flats with lockable rooms, not a camp behind a fence. Most of our bookings come from the firm rather than from the individual fitter, and this page answers what the fitter asks before he gets into the van.
What a place costs per head
In the standard houses a single room costs €23.54 per night. A double room costs €34.24, which comes to €17.12 each. A three-bed room costs €41.73, so €13.91 a head once the third place is taken. Every figure carries German value added tax and reflects September 2026.
Two of the houses are priced above that, because the rooms are larger. A single room there costs €26.75 or €37.45 and a double room €32.10 or €47.08. In the €32.10 room one man pays €16.05.
High-speed internet, bed linen, cleaning products and the washing machine sit inside those rates. The price list with worked examples shows how a long posting adds up.
Cooking after the shift, washing at the weekend
Eating out every evening eats a subsistence allowance. Each flat therefore has a kitchen with a stove, an oven, a fridge, a microwave, a kettle, a coffee machine and cooking utensils. Nothing is served in the building, and that is the point: you cook what you want when the shift ends.
The washing machine costs nothing extra. Nobody has to find a laundrette on a Saturday morning in a city he does not know.
Food is close. On Eppinghofer Straße an EDEKA Paschmann and an Aldi are each 100 metres away. Near Leineweberstraße and Wallstraße a Netto stands 100 metres from the door, in Saarn a Netto Marken-Discount 200 metres, on Oberstraße a Lidl 300 metres and an Aldi 400 metres. From the house on Scharpenberg an Aldi and a REWE Lenk are both 900 metres off.
Getting to the gate in the morning
Eight of the nine houses have a bus stop within 300 metres. Rathausmarkt is 200 metres from the houses on Löhberg and Wallstraße. On Eppinghofer Straße the stop is 200 metres away, on Oberstraße the Oststraße stop 300 metres, on Scharpenberg the Floraweg stop 300 metres, in Saarn the Kleefeld stop 200 metres.
The railway is just as near. Mülheim Hauptbahnhof lies 300 metres from the house on Eppinghofer Straße, 500 metres from Löhberg and Wallstraße and 600 metres from Leineweberstraße.
By road the region is small. Siemens Energy in Mülheim is 4.1 kilometres away, a drive of seven minutes. Oberhausen Hauptbahnhof takes 12 minutes, Essen Hauptbahnhof 11 minutes over 9.6 kilometres, Duisburg Hauptbahnhof 17 minutes. The steelworks in Duisburg-Bruckhausen are 19.3 kilometres off, which is 21 minutes on a clear road. Düsseldorf Airport lies 27.7 kilometres away, a drive of 30 minutes, and that counts when you fly home every third weekend.
Arriving at eleven at night with a door code
Check-in runs without staff, around the clock. Once the booking is settled an access code goes out, and it opens the door whenever the crew turns up. A delayed flight or a late handover on the motorway changes nothing.
The sequence is short. Your firm sends the dates, we answer with a written quote, the firm confirms, and the code follows. Whatever belongs to the booking, such as cleaning or payment, stands in that quote rather than being guessed at here.
Parking the company van somewhere legal
A transporter left in the wrong street on a Sunday night turns into a fine on Monday. Parking for cars and for trucks belongs to the houses. In the centre the Ruhrstraße garage is 100 to 200 metres away, at Eppinghofer Straße the Forum car park 100 metres, on Oberstraße a car park 200 metres. From Scharpenberg you reach Am Weißen Turm after 700 metres, in Saarn the one at the Berufskolleg after 900 metres.
When the employer runs a contingent
Most crews here arrive on a block booking that runs for a month or longer. The firm names the head count and the period, we hold the rooms, and the occupancy inside them can change as the shift plan changes. One person on your side deals with us, and one document covers every room.
